I read an article this morning that caught my attention regarding Medicare late enrollment penalties. Generally, Social Security recipients are automatically enrolled in Medicare as part of the process when they become Medicare eligible at age 65. This isn't always the case for those who choose to delay Social Security and automatically enroll in Medicare. There are a number of you who are choosing to delay Social Security and work beyond age 65, where you likely have medical coverage through your employer. Delaying Medicare is possible but may come with stiff penalties if not done correctly. Click on the link below for more information on the steps Congress is taking to bring awareness to the issue.
As always, please contact the office should you have questions or if you want to discuss the matter further.
